Market Town Homes and Valley Villages
Potteries Fascias work on homes across Cheadle and the villages around it, around 30 minutes from our base in Tunstall. From terraces near the town centre to bungalows and cottages out in the valley, we handle roofing, guttering and roofline work of every size.
- Clear gutters and downpipes blocked by leaves from the valley woodland
- Replace rotten fascias and soffits with uPVC that never needs painting
- Repair slipped tiles, ridges and leaks on older roofs
- Free written quote, with a visit within 24 hours in most cases
The Churnet Valley is one of the most wooded corners of Staffordshire, and every autumn those trees drop their leaves straight into the gutters of the homes below. Blocked gutters overflow, soak the walls and rot the fascia boards behind them, so a yearly clear-out saves a lot of bigger repairs.

Bungalows are common around Cheadle and in the villages. Their rooflines run all the way round the house at a lower height, so fascia, soffit and gutter replacement can usually be done safely from ladders or a tower, without the cost of full scaffolding.

Looking After Homes In and Around Cheadle
Rural and edge-of-town homes have their own set of problems. These are the ones we’re asked about most.
Leaf-Blocked Gutters
Overflowing gutters are the most common call we get from the valley. We clear gutters and downpipes with gutter cleaning and repair any joints that have started to leak.
Bungalow Rooflines
A bungalow roofline is long but low. We replace tired timber boards with uPVC fascias and soffits, usually without any need for scaffolding.
Older Roofs
Slipped tiles, cracked ridges and worn flashing around chimneys are common on older town and village homes. See roof repairs, or new roofs when repairs no longer make sense.
Older Brickwork
Soft, crumbling joints on older properties need the right mortar. We carry out house repointing, including lime mortar where the building calls for it.
Gable Ends
Mortar verges on exposed gables crack and fall away over time. Dry verge caps seal the edge with no mortar to fail.
Extensions and Outbuildings
Garages, extensions and outbuildings often have flat roofs that have been patched for years. We repair or replace them, see flat roofs.

Do you cover Cheadle in Staffordshire?
Yes. We cover Cheadle in the Staffordshire Moorlands, not Cheadle near Stockport. We’re based in Tunstall, around 30 minutes away, and we work across Cheadle, Tean, Draycott in the Moors, Freehay, Kingsley, Froghall, Oakamoor and Alton.
-
How often should gutters be cleaned near trees?
If your home is close to trees, aim for at least once a year after the leaves have fallen, and twice a year if your gutters fill quickly. Leaving them blocked lets water overflow onto the walls and into the fascia boards.
-
Do you need scaffolding for a bungalow?
Usually not. Most bungalow fascia, soffit and guttering work can be done safely from ladders or a tower. We’ll confirm what access is needed when we quote, so there are no surprises.
-
Can you replace the fascias and keep my guttering?
Yes, although the guttering has to come off for new fascias to be fitted, so if it is old or leaking it usually makes sense to replace it at the same time. We’ll price both options so you can choose.
-
Will you come out to the villages for a small job?
Yes. Whether it’s one slipped tile or a full roofline, we’ll come out to look at it and give you a free written quote.
