Crewe grew around the railway, and streets of Victorian terraces were built to house the people who worked on it. Many of those roofs are still slate, with smaller roofs over the rear extensions and gutters and downpipes that have been patched more times than anyone can count. When slates slip or a joint gives up, water finds its way into the walls quickly, so it pays to catch it early.

The Jobs We See Most in Crewe
Older terraces and newer estates sit side by side in Crewe, and each comes with its own problems.
Slipped Slates on Terraces
Old nails rust through and slates slide out of line. We replace and refix them, see roof repairs. If too many are going, a new roof may be better value.
Rear Roofs and Extensions
The small roofs over rear kitchens and bathrooms often have their own gutters and shallow or flat sections. We repair them and re-cover flat roofs.
Leaking and Shared Gutters
On a terrace, one blocked or broken section can send water down your neighbour’s wall as well as yours. See guttering repairs and gutter cleaning.
Tired Timber Rooflines
Flaking, rotten timber boards are replaced with uPVC fascias and soffits that look smart and never need painting.
Gable Ends on Newer Homes
Mortar verges on end-of-terrace and detached homes crack over time. Dry verge caps replace them for good.
Weathered Brickwork
Old, soft mortar washes out of the joints and lets damp in. We renew it with house repointing.

Yes. We’re based in Tunstall, around 30 minutes from Crewe along the A500, and we cover Crewe, Nantwich, Shavington, Wistaston, Willaston, Wybunbury, Haslington, Sandbach and Alsager.
-
Can you repair a slate roof?
Yes. We replace slipped, cracked and missing slates and refix them so they sit properly in line. If a lot of slates are failing at once, we’ll tell you honestly whether repairs still make sense or whether re-roofing would be better value.
-
Why does water come over the top of my gutter?
Usually because the gutter or downpipe is blocked, or because the gutter has dropped and lost its fall towards the outlet. Both are quick to fix: we clear the blockage, reset the brackets so the water runs the right way and reseal any leaking joints.
-
Do you quote for rented properties?
